At DanceSpace, dancers have opportunities to take what they learn in the dance room and use it in new ways—to teach, create, lead, perform, and give back. These experiences help dancers discover new strengths, take on greater responsibility, and explore where their love of dance might take them next.
Assistant Teaching Program
Raising the next generation of dance educators
Some dancers discover that their love of dance extends beyond performing—they want to teach it, share it, and inspire the dancers coming behind them.
The DanceSpace Assistant Teaching Program gives experienced dancers the opportunity to work alongside our faculty, gaining hands-on experience while learning how to lead a classroom, communicate effectively, demonstrate technique, and connect with younger dancers. We’re proud to invest not only in the next generation of dancers, but in the next generation of dance educators.
National Honor Society for Dance Arts
Recognizing dancers who lead, achieve, and inspire
DanceSpace is proud to be an official Colorado Chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts™ (NHSDA), a program of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO).
Available to eligible CREW and Performance Company dancers in grades 6–12, NHSDA recognizes achievement in dance alongside academics, leadership, character, and service.
Through our Junior and Secondary Chapters, eligible dancers can earn national recognition, take on leadership roles within DanceSpace, and pursue NHSDA scholarships and awards.
Young Choreographers Showcase
Giving dancers a voice of their own
Learning choreography develops a dancer. Creating it develops an artist.
Our bi-annual Young Choreographers Showcase gives CREW and Performance Company dancers the opportunity to step into the role of choreographer—from developing a concept and selecting music to creating movement, working with dancers, and bringing their vision to the stage.
It’s a chance to take creative risks, develop an individual artistic voice, and experience dance from an entirely new perspective.
Community Performances & Outreach
Sharing what we love
DanceSpace has always believed in being an active part of the communities around us. Throughout the year, dancers have opportunities to perform at community events, participate in outreach, and represent DanceSpace beyond our own stages.
These experiences remind dancers that performing can be about more than scores and awards. It can bring people together, create connections, and give dancers the opportunity to share something they love with the community they call home.

A dancer may come to DanceSpace to learn how to dance. Along the way, they may discover they also love to teach, choreograph, lead, mentor, perform, or serve. We believe it is our responsibility as dance educators to create the opportunities that help them discover those possibilities—and give them the guidance, experience, and confidence to pursue them.
